It’s a snow day..take it easy

Today we have snow in East Tennessee and evidently there will be more on the way! While I do worry about friends and family to our North, we’re focused on the possibility of playing in some snow this afternoon!

I started thinking about the kiddos being out of school and how parents who are snowed in don’t want to spend all day in the kitchen. SO I wanted to share a “tasty” recipe from a FB post I saw last week.

I made pepperoni “pretzel” rolls. Truthfully, it’s pizza dough, not pretzels. I’m not sure where the name comes from short of the shape. But it’s super easy AND it really was tasty!



  • 1 loaf of prepared pizza dough
  • Shredded Mozzarella
  • Pizza Sauce
  • Pepperoni
  • Parmesan Cheese

Pepperoni Pizza Pretzels

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and preheat the oven to 425 degrees.

Open and roll out the pizza dough. Cut into thirds (on the long side). Stretch the dough out a little by hand, see the image above.

Sprinkle down the center of each dough strip. Then you’ll roll the dough into a log roll and twist into a pretzel shape..see below.

I found it was easier to roll the dough out and then “twist” the pretzel while it was on the baking sheet. Repeat the stuffing, rolling and twisting steps for all 3 dough sections.

Once on the baking sheet, place pepperoni in ‘strategic’ areas. There is no rhyme or reason to placement, but I’m ocd, so I put them in the same place on each pretzel. Also, instead of mozzarella sprinkled on each pretzel, I experimented. I used Parmesan cheese!

Place the sheet in the oven for 15-18 mins. I kept checking to make sure it was cooking evenly, but left them in for 18 mins.

I pulled them out of the oven, served them with pizza sauce and they were a big hit! The cheese sort of bakes into the dough and isn’t a “cheese stick” consistency, just overall gooey. But in a really great way!

Will I make this again, probably. It’s pretty quick, clean and lives up to being “tasty”. I sprinkled mozzarella on one of the pretzels since my eldest is a cheese addict. But I think I really prefer the crunch that the Parmesan gives as well as the saltiness of it.
